GraduationInvitation1JPG

With the push of the SUBMIT button at 7:25pm est on Monday, April 14, 2008 I have officially completed the necessary credits (120) with passing grades to qualify and receive my Bachelors of Arts in Organizational Management from Ashford University.

I began this journey after being out of the formal education loop for over exactly 20 years in January 2006 - (two weeks before I met Caun).  I had an Associates Degree under my belt, but it had no specific direction.  As part of my doing big things as I turn 40 and a need to show my daughter the importance of education and commitment even as an adult - I embarked on finishing school.

I’d like to thank my momma, because she had stressed for years about me going back to school, but I have to do things when my own desire arises, yet she planted the seed to change the direction of our family.

Like a classic UNCF moment, I am the first on her side of the family to get a college degree.

Graduation ceremonies take place May 10th in Clinton, Iowa. I won’t be attending - yet my heart will be in it and I know I will feel a shiver as they read my name.

The education bug has struck me and on May 27th I will be going back to get my Masters - expected date of Graduation?  Winter 2009.

Don’t ever think that your time has passed, as long as you have God’s gift of time - make it count!  A lot of my dreams are coming true in my 40’s what if I had of said - it was over for me?  What if I thought I was too old, too fat, too black or too female or too set in my ways?  NO WAY!  What I am is:

too Fabulous,

too beautiful,

too smart

too vivacious!!

nasty feet

Alright ladies, it’s that time of year once again!!! I think we need to be reminded of a few things. So my sisters, PLEASE, raise your big toes and repeat after me below….

The Open Toed Shoe Pledge

As a member of the Cute Girl Sisterhood, I pledge to follow the Rules
when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:

I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over

and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.

I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free.

I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.

I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.

I will shave the hairs off my big toe.

I won’t wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker,
mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.

If a strap breaks, I won’t duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into
place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.

I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr.
Scholl’s if my feet need him.

I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low
price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids’ sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.

I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell
and begin to look like Vienna sausages.

I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she
asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet look good.

I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they are actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.

I will promise to go to my local nail salon  at least once per season and
have a real pedicure (they are about $35  and worth EVERY penny).

I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signs of wear… nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals.

Broken wings

Pamalicious on Apr 10th 2008 05:42 am

A friend of mine is going through something that really made me think about my own upbringing and adult matters.  Inevitability, according to the statistics, 50% (or it might be more now) of marriages end in divorce.  Are there any stats on how many ‘arrangements’ also bust up?  Most times within these situations there are children involved and most times there is some drama surrounding how everyone moves forward concerning that child.

Spillage of the brain

Pamalicious on Apr 9th 2008 08:02 am

Don’t know what’s up with this week and the randomness that is rattling around in my brain.

Were mini-me and her friends having a debate about whether or not Lisa Marie’s children were Mike’s?  Yes they were and of course I helped my baby win, lol

I just found out Jay-z and Mary J tickets were $125 pop! UM NO maybe if Kanye joined them it would be justified.

I can’t believe I haven’t watched one episode of: Flava of Love or America’s Next Top Model or Celebrity Fit Club for that matter.

Anthony Anderson might be a good look for Law and Order - tune in April 23rd to see.

Caun wants to know why I was decked out in all his clothes when he came home - dunno, I just wanted to put on your PJ’s baby, lol

I am 6 pages away from being DONE with Undergraduate studies!!

Did that scale really say that and I’m excited about it?

I was thinking this morning that I am still scarred from never being seen in the Romper Room Mirror.  Why didn’t she see me?!

Yes I do have my ‘fall’ pulled back in a pony tail - anddddd….lol

Why don’t we all get off for spring break?

I am still mad I never attended a freak nik.

Where can I get some boudoir pictures taken?

I’m getting excited about what Caun might have up his sleeve for Mothers Day.

I’m just rattling away let me go.  See this is why I said MWF, lol

Happy Feelings

Pamalicious on Apr 8th 2008 06:44 am

I’m feeling happy even though I’m so sleepy I put a ruler under my chin to keep my head up!

HAPPINESS IS -

Coming downstairs to go to bed and finding "Just Because" Flowers on the bed;

Everyday I wake up and Mini-me has Cosby Show level teenage angst and not Degrassi High level teenage angst;

Room in my pants;

Walking through Atlantic Station laughing loud and enjoying each others company;

Looking in the elevator reflection and actually accepting that it’s just a distorted reflection that is NOT me;

Five pairs of summer shoes on their way to my house!

Being told we look like a couple in our mid 30’s instead of 40 and 42 respectively;

Being 8 research pages away from having a Bachelors Degree

Avon Glaze wear Lip Gloss - LOVE IT!

My mom is actually coming to visit after wha..four years?

Changing the course of my career reputation - one good job at a time;

Belonging on my terms;

Riding down interstate 20 jamming to Mike;

Having on no pants and my work top - so comfortable!

Taking off the Bra and the ‘girls’ are still at attention;

Knowing my edges don’t look like this woman I saw on the train - weave/glue all you want but PROTECT YAH EDGES LADIES!

Everyday I wake up and the diabetes hasn’t taken my ass out of commission;

Despite some ‘issues’; I see a wonderful summer for 2008;

Mini-me got a call back for the Counselors in Training Program;

I am LOVED!

Take a moment and figure out what makes you happy!
