Party people/monday musing

Party people - get ready to get funky, party people yeaaaaaa so hit me…What’s up?! First let me say that I actually was so busy on Friday and so brain scattered that I FORGOT to blog. Yea I really did and by the time I remember I was in the truck on the way home, lol lol It does concern me that something that I once kept in the forefront actually slipped my mind, but we press on!
I hope your weekend went well. I’m going to tell you up front that this entry is going to be self serving and on the attention whore scale from 1- 10 at about an 8, so if in just reading this intro you feel your eyes rolling in the back of your head because I get on your nerves with my delusions (lol) then this might not be the post for you, because I’m getting out of control and this weekend didn’t help that shit at all, lol lol Self-esteem is at an all time high in this camp.
I have no idea how it turned out that I was a complete social butterfly this weekend but it did. It started out at Endenu Restaurant, where I was joined by "Janet" and "JD" to enjoy the musical stylings of CHIMERE. She will be performing there every Friday night, so if you are in the ATL - go check her out. I am really loving this whole lounge atmosphere Caun has introduced me to.
But wait let me back up a bit, because of course I’ve went off the deep end this weekend as well. By now you know me when it comes to making a decision about something new - I over research, and that’s what I have been doing concerning getting my sew in.
I’m ready to go there, but man making the decision as to WHO is going to take me there has been crazy. I researched to learn about hair, I researched about style, I freaking out. Then I went looking for someone to do it at a REASONABLE price. It was overwhelming me. Folks were either charging too much or charging so less that it seemed like it was too good to be true. I think I’ve gotten some peace as long as the price isn’t crazy - I’ve been checking one of Caun’s acts; her hair is banging. Her momma been rocking some nice stuff as well. Well you know it’s hard to just kinda walk up and say ‘hey who doing your sew in’s’ cause as you know - we all frontin, lol. Well I just went there and found out their sista is doing it. Well I called her right up - I’ve seen her work and it’s gorgeous and the hair is good quality so yea I’ll be fitting her into my schedule.
Saturday morning, I’m up and on my way to the World Congress Center for my High School Fellowship Alumni Breakfast. I have been waiting for this! You know I love my High School and I was not disappointed. It was so beautiful. About 250 turned out and we were all just proud to have gone to Washington High School. So many classes were represented with the oldest graduate in attendance graduating in 1936! You hear me 1936. There were ‘old timers’ who had on their BAND OUTFIT - from 1956 including gloves. We ate, we danced, we fellowhipped and it was just a beautful thang. I always get overwhelmed because I didn’t experience the Historically Black College experience, YET this IS my experience. It was great.
Now what’s funny is that I, of course, was hanging with my class as we get ready to embark on our 25th class reunion. Part of who was there was a brother who apparently, cause I swear my memory was fuzzy, I had a thang going on with. I’ve seen him a couple of times, and we’ve exchanged flirtations etc. Well apparently I was ON POINT at the breakfast cause he went home, got out his memorabilia with his pictures of me and him - scanned them and sent them to me, lol lol I was so flattered. I been on point all weekend if I say so myself, lol lol
I get out of there bout noon - I come home and do some things around the house, take a nap and then get up shower and switch up the swagger to evening
and go to the Blueroom to meet some friends for drinks and dancing. Again that lounge atmosphere. (Now a Blogger Moment) J bust OUT THE GATES and joined me (I’ve never seen her pix on her blog so I won’t put us up), then my HS friend Q arrived and it was on and poppin. First off both of them won the prizes they were giving away that night. They won tickets to see Patti labelle and Stephanie Mills at Chastain. What a good look! That’s gonna be one hell of a concert. We happen to become entangled in this birthday party for this 60 year old woman who made it plain to me why there is separation of parent and child - I really don’t want my momma in the club. She was dropping it like it was hot and before you know it we all were, lol lol. Dranking and hanging.
Q was the man for the evening, lol You know Blackmen have a huge job sometimes. As women, we just wanna be in the company of a man sometimes and he truly made those sistas day by dancing with them. That’s why I don’t sweat Caun in the club, all women don’t want your man ‘like that’ - but most women enjoy the male species and they just wanna be in his presence, gurl you can dance with him - I understand, lol So I crawl up out of there like 1:30 or so, lol lol
Man I have been feeling quite good. The clothes I have picked have been great selections. I have been looking nice - the hair has been banging - I just been feeling myself, lol I’m sorry if I’m sounding real self centered, lol lol Men been jocking - Caun has had a fit of quite healthy jealousy - I’ve been feeding my attention whore syndrome quite nicely and it’s all good, lol
I was supposed to go to a drag show tonight, but I have a class on Tuesday that I can’t miss - and the show doesn’t start till 11pm so I passed. Later on I am filming my part in the corporate video at work, lol
Now all of this has happen being broke as hell, lol Let’s not get it twisted, lol We did the whole weekend for $30 (not including gas), lol There is nothing better than being able to be in a mental position to enjoy life - I am enjoying it.
I was developing my May 2008 calendar and it is filled to the brim with activity. Wow! I guess I better enjoy it all because as we know things change on a dime.
Well let me get my day started.
