Monday Musing
Good Morning World! Ok, Good Afternoon! I’ve totally left this sitting, lol So ya’ll know give me a weekend and about $30 bucks and I might show up with different hair, lol lol I’m Gemini and Yellow - so sue me, lol I was loving this - so here it is. That whole animated thing is cool and it would be cooler if I could get a better representative of myself, but the coolest thing is self love - so I’ll just be PAM and enjoy that - it’s hard enough to get to the point where you just wanna be your damn self - ya heard?
So I know my reviewer talked about my recapping in painful detail my weekend but mannn this weekend was the busiest yet. I had quite a social whirlwind.
Friday - it was Shout and "Janet" celebrating her 34th Birthday.
I like Shout, I had never been and it was a good look. I wanna go back and soon. They made a Tequila Sunrise like I had never had - it wasn’t what I expected and it was YUMMY! You don’t know this but one of my favorite dishes is - the wedge of lettuce with blue cheese crumbles. It is always awesome to me, no fancy leaves and stuff piled on - just old school iceberg and dressing YEA!! So anyhoo, after we broke bread and what not we proceeded up stairs to the dance floor. Now it wasn’t my Birthday, but the DJ must have just felt our love, because this was not an old school or 80’s spot - but maybe a dozen Mike songs and a slew of other oldies but goodies took us there, mixed with the new we had FUN!!
Saturday - I sat up confused and tired but determined to pull it together and head to "The Dominicans" If you don’t know who that is - that is the hairdressers of Dominican descent who do one hell of a head. Mini-me choose to use her allowance to pursue her quest to get her hair straight and carefree. We arrived and then it dawned on me - it was the day before EASTER!!!!! That whole thing slipped my mind more than once - as evidenced by her being number 56-60 or something like that on the list. I had never seen that many women at the hairdresser!! I also was the only one there with added hair (I had on a pony). So Brothers - there are plenty of "It’s all Mine" Sisters in the ATL. I saw about 150 of them over the course of the day. I was really impressed because they kept it moving and they are self contained. No going to get wings, no my boyfriend outside and I need to go speak to him, no I gotta run an errand while you under the dryer. The man came around with juices and sodas and sandwiches - they just worked.
When we left at 2:45 or so, it was well worth it. She was quite pleased and I was impressed. I do a good job - but what they do and me flat ironing are two different things.
She’s been interested in black and white and these came out nice. Eventually, I will end up there as well, but until then - Mini-me will be continuing to blossom into a young woman. Currently - my goal is to introduce her to the American Negro, lol As of Friday, she is now "Persian/Arabian" SIGH. She is speaking in Arabic and listening to Middle Eastern POP. Two weeks ago she was um Sudanese. She is quite international in her mind, but she needs to get a bit more grounded in her real people’s roots and though I know and understand I ain’t trying to claim half of em my damn self - it is what it is and by pumping up all the wonderful things about her people, maybe she’ll claim some of them again - because the way it’s looking, negroes don’t have a chance with her.
As if all day at the hair dresser wasn’t enough - Caun and I headed back out to the club later on that evening! We went to Taboo 2 to partake of Atlanta Live. His promotional act Chimere was performing. She didn’t win, lost out to a brother who was channeling the R&B Side of DMX, but it was an okay show. I had a few drinks and some of the best damn wings I’ve had in awhile and chilled at the bar. Some of my ‘club fears’ arose as I was getting dressed at the house - but I really focused on pushing through them, saying I looked nice and moving on. I do need to begin now getting my summer clubbing gear together for our spot and just spots in general. I want to feel comfortable among the competition - real or imaginary. There are some ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMEN in the ATL and most of them are not overweight by the way (even though there is this perception that we all are and the overweight sistas were not getting all this play I have heard about as well - that in itself could cause me to go lock myself in my closet. You get comfortable with that ‘idea’ and may stop pressing on to better appearance and health - when in actuality I need to keep pursuing that - it can only get better.)
Sunday - Why am I at the Krogers at 7:30am?! Because I didn’t have any time to get any food prior to that and my whirlwind continues with 6 ppl showing up at my home by 4:00pm by invite so that we can thank them for holding on to the vision of R&B Live. So that means I gots to get to cleaning and cooking. When I tell you I have nothing but a memory left - please believe it. It was quite a success. I fixed these two great recipies that I got from my co worker "Boston Red Sox" Some pulled beef in the crock pot and some jerk chicken out the wok with sides of a big salad and New Orleans Rice. A fully stocked bar completed the scenario and it was enjoyed by all. I am going to add BOTH of these to my - come on over and bring something to eat along with my Curry Chicken Salad. Now I want to have something else so that I can just serve all of my dishes. Hopefully (looking skyward) - this whole house thing works out and I can serve it all at that new house get together.
Welllll I’ve taken up enough of your time. Let’s all get back to what we were doing!!! LOL
