Kung Fu Fighting!

Pamalicious on Jan 24th 2008 09:00 am

Let’s not even begin the chitter chatter and get right to the matter at hand..I got a good memory for you today.  Since we’ve been on this old school movie thing at my house, let me bring out a classic for yah.  You’ll have to excuse the dampness of the entry - I’ve been salivating as I put this one together. So get out your Kung Fu gear and let’s set it off! ENJOY

THE LAST DRAGON

Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon is a 1985 martial arts parody film, featuring a predominantly Black cast, produced by then-Motown Records CEO Berry Gordy and directed by Michael Schultz. Something of a commercial and critical disappointment upon its original release (the film’s Norman Whitfield-produced theme song was nominated for Worst "Original" song at the 1985 Golden Raspberry Awards), The Last Dragon is today considered something of a cult classic. The film stars Taimak, Vanity, Julius J. Carry, III, Christopher Murney, and Faith Prince. The movie was released by TriStar Picturesto theatres on March 22, 1985.

The plot, set in New York City, of the film revolves around a black teenage martial arts student named Leroy Green, who is often referred to as "Bruce Leroy" (although he never actually calls himself that). Leroy dreams of being a great martial artist like his idol, Bruce Lee. Leroy is on a quest to attain the highest level of martial arts accomplishment, called "The Glow". As its name suggests, it is a mystical energy that can be tapped into by a martial arts master. When a person’s hands glow, they are one of the best fighters in the world. When their entire body glows, they are the single best fighter there is. Along the way to find "The Glow", however, Leroy must confront villains such as a crooked arcade mogul (Murney) and the evil Sho’nuff, the Shogun of Harlem. Also, protect his younger brother Richie (Leo O’Brien) and his girlfriend, VJ Laura Charles (Vanity).
This was the first acting role for Taimak, a then-20-year-old Black/Italian black belt who learned to act on the set of this picture.
Featured in this film is a DeBarge song, "Rhythm of the Night", written by Diane Warren. The song reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard R&B charts.
Leroy and Richie’s younger sister Sophie was portrayed by Cosby Show actor Keshia Knight Pulliam.

Let’s take it back to SHONUFF!

Remember this song?  You knew it was wack as hell but you bopped to it anyway.

And we certainly can’t even go there without a few shots of our hero Bruce Leroy - - Now! Check Him Out On His Website. Ladies (and Hell some fellas too) get out a hanky, you will need to wipe your mouth!

You are being forwarned:  This is coming from a in the last five years voter and someone who is not versed on politics as a whole and reading and learning as I go along. However, that has neva stopped me having an opinion, lol  This will probably though - be either the only or next to the last conversation from me about the entire thing.

I have been reading a coupla sites and listening to the radio and it’s got my feathers ruffled on the real. Who the fuck are you to start trying to tell me that my ‘black card’ is being challenged if I don’t vote for Obama?!

Caun’s Corner - January

Pamalicious on Jan 22nd 2008 11:45 am

As part of the 2008 Adventure, I have secured a once a month blog entry from Caun Magnegro. Nah I can’t tell you which day or whatever (ya’ll know that’s asking too much) - I’m just happy he wanted to express himself through the blog.  This will be raw - no editing or anything - just a straight cut and paste. He has no subject boundaries, so I don’t know what ya’ll going to be reading, lol

Sooo January is in the can and posted below.  Please show your love for………CAUN!

My vision of our future is 20/20. My creativity to make it happen for my family is in the likes of Berry Gordy, Sir Richard Branson, Clive Davis, Pat Croce and Russell Simmons.

It is amazing what a good woman can do for a man. This has been an amazing year. I have not experienced a love like this in any relationship I have been in. It is one thing when you go through situations and become at ends with your significant other. That can test your relationship to the tilt whether it be marriage or just long term. It is another thing when no matter the situation that rises, there still is peace within. Not that I can run over her, nor she over me, we just have an understanding and a respect towards each other. We always know that we can conquer whatever is thrown at us, by working together rather than against each other. It’s a relationship like that, that makes me want to come home and be with one woman. I’ve been around the world, in and out, fly-by-night, on bootycalls and marriage. None have sustained because, eventually, it is discovered that we had less in common than we thought. I am, by no means, the perfect man. Nor do I want the perfect woman. But I can say I was blessed to have someone that will accept my flaws yet know I have what it takes to keep us………US!! And being a father to Mini-Me is one of the greatest joys ever. She is a very gifted and creative young lady.

CumBahyah Monday

Pamalicious on Jan 21st 2008 12:18 pm

Hello good people!  Just sitting here watching All My Children (totally lost but I have seen Angie - Jessie comes the 25th) and eating lunch…a can of creamed corn.

I’ve stay away from the computer this weekend. Just needed to do something else. I’ve read a novel:  dirty red which was hella good.  I read it in four hours last night.  I cant’ wait till July when the sequel comes out. This book gave me all kinds of I’m a gangsta whore dreams. I was wore out this morning, lol

So when the check are floating around America edition of our Anniversary goes a bit like this:

A good meal by candlelight at the coffee table, while watching House Hunters: misc08 010 Followed by a Throwback Theatre Marathon: misc08 009 (funny how VCR tapes are now in the same class as Vinyl records now) by candlelight while snuggled up in the bed, made for a great Anniversary.  Our day to day life is a celebration - so just relaxing and bonding with my Husband was fine.  Throw in a mega wrestling match (we wrestle quite often) and a dance marathon (the ipod hooked up to the speakers in the living room) and we had a nice time.

We have also been talking about and looking at how this will be the year that we get this financial thing together.  We have stepped back and took a look at it as a conversation FROM God to us.  Taking us down to the level we are (which still isn’t a level those more unfortunate than us are on) we are hoping is because we needed a test at this level of strife.  With Caun’s business getting back underway with the relaunch on the 21st of February, we would like to think that this is about to take off big time and bringing us here - will make us plan accordingly, save correctly and NOT mess it up when it takes off.  Yea we’ll go with that - keeps my sanity in tact.

School starts tomorrow.  It’s great to look at my schedule and see PENDING GRADUATE in huge letters.  I am 115 credits into a 120 credit degree and I’m taking 3 of the remaining 5 now.  I have no book…yet, but I’ll do okay.  I have to get a "B" in both these last classes to make them count when I start my Masters.

Mom’s is blowing through this evening on a layover from a speaking engagement, so we’ll ride out there to see her.

Dang VH-1 is playing the Jacksons Movie. I was in the mood for the Temptations, lol  Um MTV - we’ve SEEN all these damn America’s Next Top Models!!!!!!  Why do they take up all day with that mess?!

The little surfing I did, made me come across a whole new slew of blogs to read.  This blog thing is never ending.  I’m considering - retiring some to explore and learn about these new people. I can only read so much in a day and I read on the daily those that I read.  I keep a master list of everybody so I can add and remove - but sometimes it’s like that.  I’d like some new people to read my words as well.  I know my blog might not be for everybody - I’m a cocky broad and whatnot but I’d like some new love as well. Ya’ll know I got Attention Whore I’m a Yellow syndrome, lol  So I need to read and comment to bring new folks to my world.  I think this is gonna be a good blog year.

I did score me a freelance short term writing gig for pay! That’s a blessing.

Well at some point this I’mma stay in my PJ’s till they just crumble off my body gets even too funky for the person who’s funk it is. Let me get off of here and just kinda move into another space of the house.

I’m off tomorrow as well.  Hmm, that’s gonna be interesting. At least Mini-me who has taken up jump roping will be back in school - cause with all these good words and upbeat demeanor - she is TOO THROUGH we broke, lol

Pamalicious on Jan 18th 2008 08:52 am

Hey Ya’ll!  I’m just sitting here thinking about this time last year I was on my way to Vegas Baby!  Yep!  I think back over this time last year and I marvel at the way I planned and executed my wedding and it was a destination wedding! Working without the benefit of professional I think the entire affair was tasteful and fun. From the invites to the casino goody bags to the personalized thank you cards.
