The magnegroes visual year in review 2007

Pamalicious on Dec 27th 2007 11:39 am

Folks wonder about the amount of picture taking that goes on in our household.  Some even find it self-serving,attention whoring and obsessive.  I was raised by an accomplished photographer.  I have been the subject of a lens since I came out.  My parents had photo albums of us doing everyday things for as long as I can remember.  I am comfortable in front of the camera and took up the love for the visual at an early age.

I passed this love of the camera in front and behind the lens on to Mini me.  Every picture for several years that was taken of me (including ones I used on dating sites) were taken by Mini me. She still takes good pictures.

To marry and find someone who also is comfortable with picture taking is fabulous and just one more thing that makes me believe I live in a constant fairytale.  Even BCPC is a photo lover!  A visual history of your life is a fantastic thing and we frequently get out and look at all of our photos.  Part of my reconcilation for 2007 is to clean out my computer and put a lot of pictures on CD’s.

The end of the year is a perfect time to just rewind the Adventures of Pamalicious so for your enjoyment - 2007 in pictorial review.

(in no particular order & hosted by Mike J….of course, lol)

Glitter Text @ Glitterfy.com

Hey Everybody!  Shout out to all those that had to work.  I know at some point everyone is going to creep on the internet - don’t act like all of a sudden you (1) have so much to do and (2) are not addicted, lol lol

So somebody write and tell me what ya’ll got.  Caun and I went to see National Treasure II and it was GOOD!  I love this franchise. The whole premise that there is treasure right here in America makes this good. Also let’s not leave out the whole subplot about all the lies that have been told in this country. Great stuff!  Like I always say and never do - I have to own these, lol

We then proceeded to hang out with Janet and her family.  It’s been about a year.  Janet was a bit bitter about the whole I’m married and now don’t come around as much to just hang out thing - but I more than made up for it and my stomach and headache is telling me that as well.

Man oh man - I gotta get on my hustle because I’ve fallen in love…with Wii  - Oh my damn!  wiiA This is the hotness!  After we pretty much beat the kids up so we could play with their toys - it was on and poppin! What fun!  Now for us to acquire this means we have to first upgrade our television. There’s no way we can do it on that little thang we got.  But year 2008 has gotta see this in our house.  Talk about a family game.  Yea this is it.  I already see Caun and I battling it out on the regular.

In honor of the holidays we were drinking festive drinks:  Red drinks, Blue Drinks, Green drinks - you get my drift.  It was a good time. Brought back great memories of years past and just hanging out with my family from another family tree works for me.

Well that’s all folks!  See ya’ll tomorrow.

Just another December 25th

Pamalicious on Dec 25th 2007 01:53 pm

I have never celebrated the Christmas holiday and neither has Mini-me or any of her cousins. However, like mini-me, it seems I/she has had an opportunity to be around ‘open’ thought processes so it never has really been anything stressful for us.

I have very fond memories of the holiday season and waiting along with my friends to see what they were going to get. I guess I was around 8 or so when I was first asked "What?! You don’t celebrate Christmas?!" I can still see the looks of amazement on my best friends face. I had no problem explaining that I was muslim and we didn’t celebrate Christmas and that I enjoyed my Birthday and we had our own ‘holiday’ Saviours Day in February where we celebrated the birth of Master Fard Muhammad. Now back in the day - we got a whole heap of stuff during that time - but it was stopped because (1) it was beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS, lol and (2) there were too many damn people in my family!
I have no memories of ever being ostracized or made to feel ‘different’ because my beliefs were not the same as the majority. Parents and Kids always just took it in stride and I am happy that Mini-me is having the same experience.

One of my absolute fondest memories is the year we all wanted bikes. Christmas morning rolled around and I was not allowed out the house until like noon that day and so I stood in the window and peered across the street as they held up each gift to the window. Finally I could go over - I flew across the street and there stood two shiny new bikes. I had two whole months to wait for mine - but my two best friends who were sisters - rolled those bad boys right in the house and DIDN’T TOUCH THEM UNTIL FEBRUARY WHEN I GOT MINE! When I came flying around the corner on my new bike - they joined me and we rode all day long. Let me tell you - that’s happiness on a level few folks would understand.
So what exactly did and do we do on Christmas? When I was little, we didn’t do anything but wait until we could go play with our friends toys for awhile then come on home, lol. Now as an adult, it’s kinda somber. My late husband’s birthday was on Christmas - so we say a prayer and basically just go about our day. For the past several years Mini-me is with my mom in Philly, so being in that cocoon allows life to go on as if it’s nothing even special. I’m invited to break bread with "Janet" and her family - which is always cool - we have a good time laughing and drinking and joking and drinking and did I mention drinking, lol.

Folks always ask "aren’t you depriving your child, she’s going to grow up with issues about that?" Why? She’s NEVER mentioned Christmas to me,lol. I have a penchant for listening to Donny and Mike sing tunes - but we don’t deal in fantasy so by just dealing with that- she has no longing for it. Not to mention, she is a blessed child in the material department and so remove that and it’s pointless anyway since our spirituality lies elsewhere.  I actually this year toned my own fascination down a bit. I didn’t attend any parties or anything like that.  I didn’t watch any real show, I just kinda tuned out and Caun tuned out even more.

This year is the first real year where I’ve had a step daughter who does celebrate Christmas.  My husband is not into the ‘holiday’ and with a sit down discussion as to why we aren’t at this home, BCPC is fine.  Folks add all that pressure on children - they are quite adaptable.  When she gets the three gifts (the limit I placed for Saviours Day) she’ll be beaming to be getting something when everyone else’s Christmas gifts have went the way of the toy box.

Mini-me is following tradition and is up at her Grand mom’s.  BCPC is celebrating with her family and we get her this upcoming weekend and life goes on.

So don’t ‘feel’ anything for us because we don’t celebrate Christmas, because (1) I enjoy the season and the vibe and get good feelings from it (2) I got enough bills and (3) I know a whole bunch of folks not just Muslims that don’t indulge in the holiday and we doing….just fine.

What I want to know is WHAT DID YOU GET?  LOL
