Vision

One’s journey through life is as individual as their genetic makeup and mine is no different.  I believe that my life is a series of colorful threads I am weaving into one beautiful piece of fabric, the fabric of my life.  Part of this included taking a good long look at my career path and dissatisfaction with it.  I had always had jobs and never a career.  I took a more traditional approach to working and chose jobs that required a specific skill, but not a lot of intellect.  I was told that as long as you knew how to type, there would be a job and that’s the path I followed, one of a Secretary.

As my life evolved and I began to identify myself, I felt that my brain was lacking in stimuli.  I was not using it and it was starting to show.  I needed to begin to think about ways to expand my knowledge, and begin to outline my legacy in life.

Going back to school was an important part of this process, thus my enrollment in Ashford University majoring in Organizational Management.  I want to use this time in school to further define who I am, stimulate my intellect and begin the foundation for the next, and what I believe to be the most fulfilling, thread in the fabric of my life.

2012 will mark five years from the present.  Within this timeframe, I intend to reshape the significant core values of my life.  Personal Power – defining and staying committed to my personal goals, practicing self love; Intimacy – being a mate, being a friend, be a better sister/daughter/aunt/niece; Search for Meaning – remain true to my inner walk and inner self and Professional Fulfillment – Doing what I love and loving what I do while assisting others in outlining their own career paths.  These are all very important to me reaching the ‘Making It Stage’ of my life.

Congrats on going for what you want. I heard something on the radio this morning. “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” It sounded weird — at first. i get the idea. I’m sure you do as well.
