An Open Letter to my Husband

kiss.jpgDearest -

On January 20, 2007, I stood before friends, family, the minister and God and pledged to you that I would love, honor, take care of you through sickness, health, richer, poorer etc.  I didn’t take those vows lightly.  Twenty some odd years ago I stood in that same situation and it wasn’t the same, so I know the difference.  I was and am in love with you, it has not wavered since we declared our love for each other.  We are so suited to be together.  Your Ying to my Yang, Your Martin to my Malcolm, Your Hood to my Country, Your dreams and reality to my dreams and reality.  People must really think that I consciously said well I’ll just be single and play the damn dating game for 14 years ON PURPOSE!  I had not run across the type of man that possessed the type of character and whereforall and ability to love and when I did - I damn sure married him.

The other day Steve Harvey was talking about how women need to make up their minds and say what they want.  I knew what I wanted and I knew that it would take some time and some work on self to get into the position where I WOULD BE CHOSEN.  I followed those rules and they worked for me AMEN.

I say all of that to say to you my dear husband that I wear my rings proudly daily and I hold my head up high as your wife and I am here for you.  Irregardless of the things that were said today by people who don’t know you and people who wish they still did, you are NOT THOSE THINGS. I know that you put on your man face and you take it - alot of men take it and take it because there is nothing that they can do, but I don’t want you to eat any of what was said.  It came from a plate of poison that was cooked up on a stove of ignorance and immaturity.

I just wanted to let you know that I got your back and we are going to make it through this storm and your prayers will be answered.  We have to hunker down, refocus and move forward as a unit.  We will NOT let this rock our foundation or our groove.  When we lay down at night and when we wake up in the morning, WE got a Love Thang and fuck the rest.

So as an example to men and a continued pillar of example for women that good men do exist, even if you to flawed to see it, keep your head up, your shoulders back and this too shall pass…

I love you,

YOUR WIFE!

Now that’s one heck of a letter. There’s nothing more appreciated by a man than having the support of his mate. Good for both of you!

I don’t know who said WHAT, but I tell you one thing, girl, You are completely right in your advice to your man. And speaking of advice, do you wanna be my psychologist, by any chance?

I’ll take your advice over theirs ANY day….

    Caun,

I’m jealous. You are so blessed to experience love like this.

    Pam,

I am even more jealous of you. To find a man that you are free to love with such ferocity, not just because he is your husband but because he is genuinely, from top to bottom, a GOOD MAN.

The two of you give me hope.

    Stay blessed,

    Cazual
