Monday Morning Musings…again
Hola! What it be’s people? Here’s hoping you had a good weekend. We had a pretty good one. To be honest, I can’t remember what we did Friday, which means we didn’t do shyt, lol. We did go dancing on Saturday nite at the Blue Lights in the Basement affair and it was alot of fun. It was suppose to be a c/o 84 kinda hangout, but only three of us showed up - so it was moved into the hanging out with friends category. The good thing was we partied all nite and didn’t spend ONE PENNY. We got there before 9 and got in free. They didn’t pressure you to buy anything so we drank water all night. Parking was free and there you have it. We now have a place to go to hang out and listen to good music and people watch when we are broke, lol lol It was broadcasted live on the radio too, lol There was so much people watching I almost threw my neck out. The Bougie African American is a site to see. Lawd yes we are! It took a minute but they finally loosened up (Alcohol is a powerful drug) and things got poppin. It was fun.
Otherwise we just hung out at the house. I made a huge dent in the condition of the office. Next weekend - I will actually do some filing and paper sorting, gotta find the cord to the shredder first, lol Read an entire novel, Baby Brother by Noire and 50 Cents, yea you read that right. Glad Noire did most of the writing. I only have three authors that I’m interested in right now: Beverly Jenkins, Carl Weber and Noire. I am up to date with Beverly, I am two books behind with Carl and Noire is coming out with something new this week, I believe. I am going to focus on those and thus be able to do some leisure reading.
I am learning that sometimes ’spending time’ is not enough with the budding teen. I engaged Goddess in some interaction time. There is always something that your teenager can’t help but gush about, find it and then engage them in it. So we did and she came on out the dungeon and hung out with us for awhile, we feel so special, lol lol
Sitting on my cocktail table is an overnight envelope that contains the beginning of a some negro mess - I tell you. It will be processed on Friday and served immediately afterwards. Yea - you should have come at it as an adult. We’ll see you downtown - we’ll see you downtown.
I got my scanner up and running and that caused me to go through some pictures and find some good stuff that I can now scan. I have soo many pictures - I think I am the person who has the visual history of my family. I would love to actually go through as a project and organize the pictures and then scan and put them all on disks. I really might do that. Perserve them. I was looking at the life and times of Pamela and boy that was a doosey - so many weights and hair and clothes disasters, lol lol What this means is that this week YOU LUCKY PEOPLE, will have the opportunity to see alot of them! So if you are overwelmed with me and my families fascination with our damn selves, this might not be the week for you. However, if you enjoy seeing folks lives and folks really sharing - then come on thru. We’ll be taking a look back at some of my favorite portraits and some odd and end stories to go with them. What prompted me was that over the weekend I received an I’ve been looking for you email from an old family friend. He basically was in my life from 16-till I moved down here. He was like our long lost little brother, lol He even went on family vacations with us. My pops basically became his pops. He lived around the corner from us. We lost contact when he went in the service and then we reconnected like 5-6 years ago and lost touch again. It brought back so many memories and I found several pictures of him and us and scanned them and sent them to him to go back down memory lane. I remember he was sitting on my lap in my oldest brothers car when we first heard Eric B. for President. There were six of us in that two seater, lol lol lol It was a Z-something or the other, lol lol My pops didn’t allow rap in the house - so we had to go to the car, lol lol We spent many a day in that car listening to that thing called Rap, lolSo this week should be pretty easy going. I was so on point last week, that it has freed up some time this week, I hope. I am finishing up my Organizational and Personal Ethics class this week; it was a good class. I am inching closer and closer to completion. I have a 3.18 GPA and I guess at some point I’ll really knuckle down and get it up to a 3.50.
I read alot of blogs this weekend. The thing is, reading them in google doesn’t allow me to comment and when I’m reading fast - I forget to click to bring up the actual page so that I can. I am going to go back this week and do some of that.
Oh and I saw a couple of pictures that has moved me to reactivate DRIPPING CHOCOLATE So in the heat of the summer - why don’t we crank it up a few notches?! Whew Lawd!!!!
Well let me get it poppin!

The best nights are the ones that cost the least. I will never forget the night we were walking down town, when a lone drummer on the side of the street started playing and a crowd of people formed just dancing to the beat. It was so primal. So beautiful. I didn’t want to leave. But I knew the cops would be around shortly to break it up. So I took the memory of it with me… I haven’t seen anything like it since.
