Back In Love Again

Pamalicious on Jul 18th 2007 06:42 pm

I stood in the shower later on that evening trying to wash the feeling away. “What to expect when you’re expecting” didn’t say shit about this, lol. She sat in the closet in the dark with her own demons. I snatched her out and made her face them head on. The sizzle of hot tears on red cheeks was the only noise in the room. Mommy…Mommy….was that me calling mines or her calling me?

I washed that hand, and watched all the anger and hurt spiral down the drain. Let the sun come up on a new day. I drifted off to sleep with prayer and mediation - chocolate firm hands rubbing my neck and back until I drifted off to dreams of a 5 lb 15 ounce angel in makeup, heels, and a short skirt with a drink in her hand. Mommy…Mommy…was that me calling mines or her calling me?

The sun came up and a smile greeted me. Life is back to normal…till - next - time.

OHHHHH WAIT!

Thirteen Levels of Drama

Pamalicious on Jul 17th 2007 07:33 am

Woo SAHHH this is gonna be a long one. On the way to work this morning, I stretched and stretched. My body had coiled up like a Cobra from the stress of the previous evening. I tried to focus on relaxing and calming things, but the visions were few and far between.

I wrote a post recently about the joy of giving birth to Goddess; now my words begin with “I brought you in this world and I’ll take you out”. This girl has flipped her wig! and it’s all about her wig.

Um, where the hell did my Monday Musing post disappear to?! I can’t find it anywhere not even in my Administrative view. Quite perplexed, but the show must go on. I hope someone had a chance to read it.

Talk to Me!

Pamalicious on Jul 14th 2007 04:45 pm

“Wake Up Dammit!” When a movie weaves it’s way into your own psyche and you begin to ‘think’ and ‘feel’ because of it, it’s a good damn movie and “Talk to Me” starring Don Cheadle, Directed by Kasi Lemmons is just that kinda movie.

I had been reading some buzz about it, so Caun and I got up early to hit the matinee to see it. Of course the place was hopping with Transformers and Harry Potter fans, but I wanted to see something that didn’t get my adreneline going.

You talking about good! As you know it is the life story (probably enhanced but you get the point) of Ralph Waldo Petey Green, an ex-con who talks himself onto the radio and into the consciousness of DC. Mannn, I tell yah and let me say this right now: The NAACP ‘buried’ the word igga a few days ago and lo and behold on the third day that so and so rised - because igga is back in full force! You have seen ‘urban’ movies (I hate that word) where all of the cussing etc. is just gratituous, it has no link to the story or any weight and brevity - well Petey is now my new cussing hero! (taking the place of Samuel L. Jackson). That muthafucka can take a cuss word and hang tinsel on it! I also love period pieces and always mourn the fact that I wasn’t around when shit was poppin off. The clothes in this movie were FIERCE! The language, the scenery, the way the story was told, everything just fit.

talktome4.jpg

Anchoring Don was just good acting by good actors. Chiwetel Elijofor, Mike Epps (yea), Cedric the Entertainer and Martin Sheen - showed out in this movie, but I want to give special props to Taraji Henson as Peteys Bottom Bitch Vernell.

talktome3.jpg

You know sometimes women make wonderful accessories and she played this part to the hilt. She didn’t overpower him, but she added all the seasoning to the movie. She was flinging much Lawry up in that piece. I love her acting and she’s, in my opinion, the otherside of Regina King. You know Regina plays wonderful supporting women roles and Taraji does as well.

Watching the movie, I just started to ‘relate’ and it became relevant to my own life. Basically it’s about a person who isn’t trying to conquer the world, just get a piece of it and he meets someone (Dewey played by Elijofor) who can do what he is afraid to do and in return he says what that person is afraid to say. That’s me and Caun. I also totally understand as the story moves forward, how you yourself can become someone’s ‘dream’ when in reality - you have already been living yours. Everyone can’t take over the whole world, sometimes people are happy just being in it.

All I got to say is if you are tired of blowing your eardrums out from all the noise, or nursing a headache from all the explosions or you just want to see what we always moaning about, “a good ass black film” THEN SUPPORT THIS MOVIE! It is my understanding that they are setting it up for Oscar. They are releasing it a bit early for the Oscar ballots, but I’m sure they are going to pull it and then re-release it so that the Academy can have it fresh in their minds. I see Don finally winning and Taraji getting nominated SHIT they finally giving us the damn statue let’s do like we always do and just start running thangs!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA+

Friday Fandango

Pamalicious on Jul 13th 2007 08:45 am

Holy Witch wands and Transformers Batman!  Harry Potter is out! Let’s see who wins that battle.  HAPPY FRIDAY YA’LL!  I hope everyone had a sane week and if you didn’t, that you’re back on track for the weekend.   I just realized we got a lonnng time till another holiday - so make sure you take some vacation days, lol

  • Why have I sat here and spent damn near $1300 on Disney and haven’t been any damn where yet?!  I’mma need to speak to that damn rodent!

  • Goddess took her first ride on a motorcycle and I’m having white flashes in my mind of some negro showing up at my door in leather asking for her YIKES!

  • Where in six levels of VIP HELL did my check go?!

  • Oh Yea Baby - the ball is rollin, the papers are being formulated. Should have stopped while you were ahead, now you’re dealing with Stormeka - you can start packing her stuff.

  • Why are there only five songs in rotation on the IPOD:  Breathless, by Corraine Bailey Rae, As by George Michael & Mary J., If I Had My Way by Chrisette Michele, You Are My Life, Michael Jackson and What is Love by Howard Jones.

  • I really want the 93 or so minutes of my life back that I wasted watching PRIDE with Terrance Howard, not even thighs of steel on the youngsters could save this movie!  Now I know why I haven’t heard one thing about it.  LaMichael (Evan Ross) did a good job though. I am liking the type of roles he’s taking.

  • Somewhere in all of my blogging I have accidently typed everyone’s real names, has anyone caught them?

  • Caun is going to school with all women. It was suggested to me that I pee on him, lol  Umm we might need to take a shower together…soon.  All study groups will be AT MY HOUSE!

  • I wonder if you can still move from one movie to the other undetected?  That would make a fun Saturday don’t cha think?

  • Torn about whether or not to blog Live from Disney…maybe I should take a break…..but it relaxes me…

Well again, ya’ll have a good weekend!  Do some of what I would do and some of what I wouldn’t so I can be challenged the next time around!

PEACE!
