Ain’t Life Grand?!

On the real though - thanks so much to everyone who has stopped by the spot. Since this latest creation we’re talking 2000+ views and growing.  I am humbled by folks following me through this journey we call life.  So whether you’re cheering or hating - THANKS!

  • As I was zooming down the Highway with Treach Nem blasting it dawned on me that I have reached a point, where though I am topical - I have a ‘comfort zone’.  That place where I feel like I’m home in terms of popular culture.  Damn I’m getting old.

  • Another moment was I saw this Brother who works in this building and for the very first time in my natural born life, I said, “I bet my MOM would like him?”  OH MY DAYUM!  I am not noticing romantic partnerships for my MOMMMMMMMM!?

  • Yet another epiphany is that I am also in a zone where the ‘young people’ label flows from my lips and it includes folks up to and including 25 year olds and the ‘older people’ are now 65+ and I am not taking any rank distinction so lightly.  Interesting how that barometer moves as you get older.

  • eats-restaurant.jpgI am once again prostrate (I’ve been that alot this week) towards anyone who has to feed multiple children and have the courage to go outside the house to do it. We ventured out for dinner last evening and I almost bit my nails to the quick, trying to figure out exactly where to go to not burst the pocketbook.  We decided on one of our favorite spots EATS off Poncedeleon.  Lo and Behold, we all ate GOOD and were FULL and the grand total $37.50!!  YEA!

  • Who knew Comcast Cable had Kaorake - I’m so there this weekend with the girls. I had to burst out a verse of Brian McKnights “One Last Cry” which is when I found out.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND YA’LL!!

Throwback Thursday

Summer Breeze

summer-funa.JPGAs I watched Goddess and ‘the cuz’ getting set up for their visit here in Atlanta, I got nostalgic thinking back on the lazy days when the most I had to care about was ‘what if I didn’t get picked to be on the kickball team’?  It took me right back to my own childhood and the random memories:

  • Rummaging through my mom’s old pocketbooks to get change to go and buy 1 pack of wafer meat, and some Colonial Golden Wheat Bread for sandwiches.

  • Standing at the back door to my step mom’s house with the rest of the neighborhood to get us a half a sandwich and a dixie cup of apple juice at midday.

  • The girl up the street who charged a quarter to see her dance around in the window in her mom’s nightgown

  • Tying scarfs around our heads to make our own long hair so that we could play Charlie’s Angels with my Brother. He would sit in the basement with his backs to us and send us on missions in the neighborhood.

  • 7:00 am kickball tournaments that lasted all day.

  • Movie day at the library. We would ride down on our bikes and when the movie would start we would play this game where we lay on the floor and roll very fast (there were no chairs) from one end to the next - we got put out usually for being loud.

  • The time my brother convinced us that the slip and slide could start IN the house and we could slide out the door.

  • There was a less fortunate family who lived next door to us. They had no furniture and were just busted. Well they had sons who were bad as hell.  They used to throw pebbles at our window, which was like two arms length from their house. One day we opened our window and they opened there’s and we began throwing shit back and forth.  It went from small stuff like balls and small rocks to us running back and forth outside to get bigger stuff which ended up including but not limited to Red Bricks, Cinder Blocks, and finally we tossed an old car jack in their window. Man did we get in trouble for that!

  • Breaking out due to the toothpaste all over my face as I was a member of the group “Kiss” with my brothers.

  • Going swimming in the rain with umbrellas

  • The time my brother used an can of deodorant to make a flame thrower and burned off all the screens on our apartment. He then stole some off of someone else’s and replaced ours. Yep the cops brougth his stupid ass home.

  • Stepmom said she could ride the go-cart - speeding down the hill loss control ended up under my Dad’s Caddy - stuck.

  • Long days at six flags, digging in the garbage to see if anyone had threw away any money; scoring $20 in a food bag.  In a stampede at the Billy Idol concert and having my shirt ripped from my body.  ‘Finding’ another one to continue our evening.

  • Getting new Jellies only to burn the entire bottom off stopping the big wheel at the bottom of the hill.

  • Sitting on the porch in the evening between your momma’s legs getting your hair braided, while the adults chit chat and drink iced tea.

  • Sleeping till Noon

  • Getting on punishment for playing outside in the early morning in your underwear

  • Making wrestling belts out of cardboard and tin foil and then having tournaments

  • Convincing your brother to jump off the top bunk in a somersault and then pulling the mattress out so he hits the floor

  • Summer assignment: Write the Dictionary - the Entire Webster Dictionary

  • Kids that came to see Grandma during the summer only and the excitement that they were coming to town.

  • block vs block kickball games, Momma May I, Hide and Go Seek, Jacks, Monopoly, Old Maid

  • dance contest in the front lawn in the sprinklers

  • Hello Hello H-E-L-L-O, Hello Hello - well my name is Pam Hello Hello and I’ma sucha sucha Gemini Hello Hello…..

  • Sipping left over Pink Champale and pretending to smoke as you perused the trappings of the party the night before

  • Having to get hosed off in the front yard before you came in the house

  • Sleepaway Camp:  Ain’t we cute, we the girls from cabin Ute, Now I ask you very confidently ain’t we cute!  Only one of three black girls there - so we all let our hair dred over that week.  Mom got a job at corporate office of said camp to change the menu to no pork and to ensure we got to go free.

  • Flying kites on Highway 285 out the back of the convertible caddy

  • Nowlatas, chico sticks, shortbread cookies, pickles, wax lips, gem rings, pixie stixs, fu man chew gum, blow pops, bomb pops, push ups and other summer delights

Damn I am kinda sorry I had to grow up!

What’s Happening Wednesday

Pamalicious on Jun 27th 2007 07:09 am

bet1.jpg

Morning!  The BET awards took place last night and is a perfect introduction to yet another topic day on this here blog, lol  Ya’ll know I am a topical information reader and basically an old fan, lol.  With this in mind - I sometimes want to talk about things that have happen in the world via the news or the latest gossip and what not I get from the Celebrity Blogs, so on Wednesdays this is when I’ll do that.  Because of my busy schedule etc.  having structure to the blog helps me alot - so I hope you all don’t mind.  So let’s get it started!

My commentary (in no particular order) is bursting forth like the trots!

  • beyonce1.jpgThere was two shows. The Before Beyonce took the stage and the after Beyonce took the stage. Looking all fresh and tanned from her trip to the South of France with Jigga - she just tore it up!  I know she gets lots of hate and folks are tired of the Beyonce machine, but she just GOT IT!  I was screaming like a chap wearing lesbian up in that piece, lol lol  The whole set was HOT!  The underlying support of her fellow band members Kelly and Michelle and..her sister (sigh), was just so on!  Kelly rocking the whole wonder woman ensemble was fantabulous and she was moving her little bootie, lol (though I think we should do some live performances to work on the vocals a bit).  The ending where they all pounced out of the columns. I was ova and done!  I have been popping up out my cube since I got here this morning, lol
  • God spared me and sent me to the other room to miss T-pain and Robin Thicke. Robin just looks so mushy to me. and T-Pain…BOOOOOOOOOOO!
  • I am on the fence about Ne-yo and his actual performing skills but when Fabulous came out and they started rocking my new favorite song, I perked up. That song is just haunting and I gotta remember to put it on my IPOD.
  • I have this ‘fascination’ with Lil Wayne and it was full frontal last night.  I just love that New Orleans accent..that is all, lol lol  The kids looked cute, they were on some Cindy Lauper type look and that was cool.
  • I enjoyed seeing Public Enemy back together, but I wish they would have addressed both sides of the man in like dual performances and then called MC HAMMER!  How the hell you gonna honor James and not use him?! We all know Mike wasn’t coming but dang.  I’m going over to Hammer’s Blog and let him know he was missed.
  • LiL Kim borrowed Goddess’ clothes for the evening - I expect them to be drycleaned when you return them Kim.
  • Keisha Cole wore it out!  After last years screeching - she was relaxed, rested and did really good - Diddy was her prop this time out.  I think though, that she should have wore shoes she could walk in - I think those were clogs and her feet were stuck, lol.
  • Fifty Cents is high off his energy drink, cause after all that promo about the fans picking the song - exactly what was he up there doing?  Did he forget the words or was the track skipping. Dang!
  • Ciara was channeling Janet’s Pleasure Principle, but it was kinda fly when she ‘made it rain’. Too bad she came on after Beyonce had removed all doubt from the room.
  • Diana Ross is just royalty and I have always loved and admired her swagger.  Looking Good Mortimer!  One day in the future it will be revealed that Evan is Mike’s child and ya’ll say Mike ain’t got no kids.  Her other son - kinda made my Lightskinned lust rear it’s head, looking all James DeBarge delicious and what not.  Good speech, good humility and just fabulous!
  • Monique was just Monique. I like that whole her against Beyonce thang, it works, but I have a ‘bougie’ issue with us and no shoes and I wish she would have slipped some one. I did get tired of her basically reitinerating what just happened.  I wanted more commentary from her - a bit more freestyle.
  • The Tribute to Gerald was typical black folks tribute.  He is missed!
  • I went to get some neosporin while Pretty Rickey was on the pre-show, they bother me.
  • T.I. was okay. I keep cringing because he always look like he’s about to pop a vessle or something.

I won’t bore you with alot of pictures on here when you can go to CRUNK and CONCRETE LOOP and YOUNG BLACK AND FABULOUS and get your fill.  Please visit them and give em some love for their up to the minute reports.

and Finally…

I AM TELLING YOU..I am thanking God and six other Prophets for letting Jennifer Holiday on a National Stage to sing that damn song!!!!  THANK YOU!!  Again I say Thank You!  I am prostrate on my knees in submittance.

Overall, I give it a B-.  There was awful problems with the sound, you could see the stage folks to much and there was alot of lip syncing - and I am taking off .10 points for all the advertisements of the WICK WICK WACK ASS Shows coming up in July (Yea I wrote them all down so I don’t miss a one, lol). Every one of them look terrrible, but shouts to HOT GHETTO MESS.  I sure hope you had copyrighted or something since they biting like florida misquitos.

Tuesday’s Five - Something New

Pamalicious on Jun 26th 2007 08:23 am

New Feature on this ole blog here. Every Tuesday - I will articulate FIVE random thoughts going on in my head, lol lol.  Just some freeform shyt for your Tuesday afternoon.  So here goes!

  1. I’m listening to our Assistant District Attorney Paul Howard on the radio giving the results of some DNA testing they were finally able to do concerning the Wayne Williams case.  You know him - the man convicted of the killings in the Atlanta Missing and Murdered Children Cases.  Well they took samples from five of the victims and fibers that were found on them and the clothing etc and the test came back that they all linked back to Wayne Williams through his dog - Sheba. I’mma now need Wayne Williams to sit the hell down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Stop wasting our time - you know you either did it outright or had something close to do with them.  I remember them well in 79 - I even had seen Wayne a couple of times.  He lived on the block that my play Grandmother lived on. He was that kid that you wanted to drop kick cause he was such a smart ass. I remember he wanted to teach the boys in the neighborhood how to play the drums.  Yea igga right.
  2. ET Awards tonite. The last frontier in Award Shows and one of the maybe three times I give BET some of my time.  I’ve cleared that time slot fo sho!
  3. I’ve been Goddess booking agent again.  Her Paternal Uncle called and wanted to know if she might want to go to Vegas with that side of the family and chill at her Great Aunts luxiourous home in the desert?  Um, okayyyy.  We’ll see if that pans out. She’ll be going the week before we go to Disney. So she will get off the plane stay a week here with her cousins, get back on the plane go to vegas, get off the plane and get in DQ for the drive to Orlando for a week.  Gots to be her when I grow up!
  4. Don’t you hate when you actually take an interest in someone and impart some of your platinum level knowledge, wisdom and understanding (alot at their request) and then they basically tell you to F-off and go ahead and do their own thang anyway.  If you already know you are just using me as a secret barometer of sanity and then you go and do the insane - don’t waste my time! This has now happened twice in my life - that’s about all I am entertaining. Here’s wishing you the very best with that situation. Make sure you take your motion sickness medication - because that roller coaster you insist on being on is a doosey.  Yea Good Luck with that one.
  5. There’s a weird feeling that someone dislikes me based on what they have concocted in their minds as opposed to having honest hatred for me.  I mean give me a chance to foster your dislike - don’t dislike me based on some delusion you have, lol  I struggle with this feeling of “Ha the witch got hate on my fabulousness” (which in itself might be delusional while I’m talking, lol) and guilt that this has effectively ruined a father/daughter relationship.  We’ve never met, we’ve never said hello and the fire nipping at my heels is unchecked and hot.  I don’t know what to do or how to deal - this is all foreign to me.  I want to pounce, but it’s not really my battle, so I have to just be supportive - while I secretly plan ugly ugly things in my mind.  One day it will be over - we got about 11 more years SIGH

Monday Musings

God’s Tour

Happy Monday!  I certainly hope that everyone stayed cool - cause dayum if it wasn H-O-T!!  About 97 here in Atlanta, there goes my electric bill cause the air has been on!

We had a mixed bag kinda weekend, similar to last weekend it started out fabulously as our last one without Goddess and ended on a downer due to ‘that ex’, as you can tell I have been slipping her in more cause she’s manifesting herself like a fungus.  It also gives the blog some balance, cause life is good - but like everyone else’s it ain’t perfect.
